Dining out

One of the great advantages of the Walton Cottage's location is that the town centre of Maidenhead is right on our doorstep. Within a ten minute walk you will find a full variety of restaurants: British, Italian, French, Thai, Indian, American, Chinese, Mexican cuisines - there is something for everyone?s taste as well as a selection of pubs, coffee shops and fast food establishments.

Fine Dining

We are fortunate to be located in the heart of one of the gastronomic centres of England with several Michelin-starred establishments. A five-minute taxi ride (or a pleasant stroll along the Green Way) brings you to the tiny riverside village of Bray and its two world-renowned restaurants, Michel Roux?s Waterside Inn and Heston Blumenthal?s Fat Duck.

The Waterside Inn

The Waterside Inn: The Roux family has probably done more than any other to raise the standards of modern British cooking. Since arriving in London in the early 1970?s they have helped to change the face of fine dining in England and made a pilgrimage to the banks of the River Thames a must for food lovers around the world.

The Fat Duck

The Fat Duck: If the Roux?s put Bray on the international restaurant map of the world, it was Heston Blumenthal who turned it into an absolute Mecca. Considered by some to be the finest chef in the world, his experimental dishes have made him an international celebrity.

Both of these superb restaurants require some forethought to acquire reservations and are considered by many to be a once in a lifetime experience. If you wish us to assist with reservations, please advise us far in advance.

Of course, fine dining is not limited to the celebrity chefs of Bray. There are many nearby restaurants that offer delicious food and delightful settings. A few of the choices:
