The Green Way and Thames Path networks are minutes from the hotel and provide many miles of delightful pedestrian paths.
Just ten minutes from the doorstep of the Walton Cottage, the Green Way has been carved out of countryside and town to provide a peaceful pedestrian path between Cookham and Bray. Passing right through the centre of Maidenhead, it links with and compliments the Thames Path creating ideal circular routes for walks lasting a couple of hours or a whole day.
This 184 mile (294km) National Trail follows the river from London to the Cotswold hills. The Walton Cottage Hotel is within easy walking distance to the middle of the most delightful part of the trail, the section between Windsor and Henley. In just a few miles of comfortable walk, visitors are treated to all the highlights of the river scene: elegant and historic bridges, peaceful woods and meadows, imposing mansions and eccentric cottages, boats of every description.
The rowing world's greatest celebration occurs only once a year at the Henley Regatta, but every day one can see rowers in their whisper thin racing shells, practicing along this stretch of river, and the many elegant boathouses attest to the vibrant enthusiasm for the sport.

Maidenhead Golf Club welcomes visitors and is less than a mile from the hotel. Within three miles, are four of England?s very finest golf courses: the venerable Burnham Beeches Golf Club� �founded in 1891, beautiful Temple Golf Course and the lovely Winter Hill Golf Club and The Lambourne Club.

There are fine swimming facilities at the David Lloyd Fitness Centre and at the Maidenhead Magnet Leisure Centre, both five minutes' walk from the hotel.
Outdoor and indoor greens of the nearby Desborough Bowling Club are available to members of associated clubs.
Ten pin bowling is available within walking distance of the hotel.
Tennis courts are available in adjacent Kidwells Park and at Maidenhead Tennis Club.
The surrounding countryside is laced with bridleways and there are several stables and riding schools. For information on escorted rides or lessons, guests should contact Wayside Stables.
Bisham National Sports Centre is the training ground for many of Britain's national athletes is jut 4 miles away and opens many of its facilities to the general public.

Guests from UK and Overseas rowing clubs are welcome to contact the Maidenhead Rowing Club for information about using their facilities. During the summer, there are casual rowing boats available for rental by the hour at Marlow and Henley.
Rowing enthusiasts may care to visit Dorney Lake, the site of the 2012 Olympic Rowing Events.
